Product Description

Fully revised third edition of the second of Trailblazer's 11-title series of British Walking Guides. The Cornwall Coast Path is a 203-mile section of a National Trail around the south-western tip of Britain, with some of the best coastal walking in Europe. With constantly changing scenery, the footpath takes in secluded coves, tiny fishing villages, rocky headlands, bustling resorts, wooded estuaries and golden surf-washed beaches. It is an area rich in wildlife with seabirds, wild flowers, dolphins and seals. 12 town plans and 100 large-scale walking maps - at just under 1: 20,000 - showing route times, places to stay, places to eat, points of interest and much more. These are not general-purpose maps but fully-edited maps drawn by walkers for walkers. Itineraries for all walkers - whether walking the route in its entirety over 17-21 days or sampling the highlights on day walks and short breaks Practical information for all budgets - camping, bunkhouses, hostels, B&Bs, pubs and hotels; Bude through to Falmouth - where to stay, where to eat, what to see, plus detailed street plans Comprehensive public transport information - for all access points on the coast path Flora and fauna - four page full color flower guide, plus an illustrated section on local wildlife Green hiking - understanding the local environment and minimizing our impact on it

Keep looking......2
I bought this book on the strength of a quote from a Times review. With hindsight, I question whether the reviewer or the authors have undertaken the walks described within.

Myself and the missus, fit twenty/thirty somethings and seasoned walkers, not to mention runners, walked the St Ives to Penzance stretch. We found that the projected times stated in the book are underestimated by a factor of almost 2, not the end of the world but hugely inconvenient (I suspect the timings have been calculated based on flat mileage, without consideration of the terrain difficulty). The walk descriptions are misleading also. As an example, the Lamorna to Mousehole section is described as a "simple 2 miles", this is simply wrong, no part of this section is simple, this is challenging from start to finish. Again, not the end of the world for us, but I dread to think of my dear old Ma attempting this "simple" walk, this description verges on the irresponsible.

It's not all bad, the maps are quite useful, but if maps are what you want, you're better off buying, well, a map. Next time we walk the coastal path, I'm afraid we'll be leaving this book at home.
