Amazon.co.uk Review
The juggernaut four-disc set that is the Rolling Stones Four Flicks is taken from their unique three-in-one 2001 tour when they combined a stadium tour, an arena tour and a theatre tour into one 54-truck peregrination. It's the kind of epic endeavour that brings to mind William Burroughs' remark on Laurie Anderson's Home of the Brave: "Y'know, I prefer to watch this kind of thing on TV. Tones it down."

Of the four discs, there's one devoted to each of the three sets plus another of documentary footage which is every bit as entertaining as the concerts, with the chaps coming across as the bunch of lovable old monkeys they resemble these days. The track listings speak for itself, but there are quite a few nice insights into the way in which the band operates musically. Jagger's voice is nowhere near as strong as it was, yet, like Miles Davis did when his chops began to desert him, he simply knits any shortcomings into his style of delivery. One side-effect of this, though, is that the more recent material, presumably written with this in mind, is much more effective here than the classics; "Brown Sugar", for example, its lyrics now neutered to avoid giving offence, finds him resorting to all sorts of shortcuts. No matter, though, the Stones still put on an incomparable show. Keith "the Human Riff" Richards is in fact playing better now than he ever has. It's well worth getting yer ya-yas out for.

On the DVD: Four Flicks presents its material in such an integrated way that it's hard to say where the main event ends and the extras begin. As well as the concerts, you get to see the band working with AC/DC, Sheryl Crow and various other associates, there's a fun feature which allows you to zoom in on any individual member on a few tracks (revealing the secret of Charlie Watts's propulsive drumming to the percussion-minded observer) plus a great deal more. --Roger Thomas

The Ultimate Rock n' Roll DVD!5
At school I argue with all my friends. Nearly all of them are into this rave and dance crap where I love rock n' roll. It's what my band play and it's what I listen to.
I'm sure that if I showed them the Twickenham concert on this DVD they would agree with me. I was lucky enough to actually be there at the show so I had to buy this. Although they miss out three songs what you get is amazing. They open up with a kick-ass 'Brown Sugar' and go on to play such classics as 'Rocks Off' 'Tumbling Dice and 'Sympathy for the Devil'. The sound is exellent, the picture is superb and as usual, the Stones Rock! It's nearly as good as being there!
The two other concerts are just as good. From Madison Square Garden and the Paris Olympia with songs
including, 'Angie' 'Neighbours' 'Before they make me run' and a fantastic version of 'that's how strong my love is'. I found the extra documentary very entertaining. You see the band behind the scenes and get some rare bootlegs.
Money wise, this is great value. in most shops this costs £50! Not that it's not worth it however.
Bursting with special features including select-a-stone. If a Stones fan, music fan, whatever you are, drop everything, you need this DVD!
I wrote a review saying that the 'Bridges to Babylon' DVD was the best of all time, well i was wrong..... this is it!

4 flicks5
Without doubt, this has to be the VERY BEST rock'n'roll DVD EVER MADE! To see the effort put in by the Stones to make the tour exciting for the audience, to witness the energy of the band,to see and hear "classic" Rolling Stone songs performed live, makes the £35 worth seem outstanding value for money.
I have been a Rolling Stone fan since their early days and have seen them live many many times. This DVD tops the lot! It's better than "being there", because you see and hear everything on stage with a sound second to none.
4 FLICKS shows why THE ROLLING STONES are the Greatest Rock Band ever. Buy it and have a pemanent record of a band the like of which will never surface again.

The Stones roll even further!5
Being a Stones fan and seeing Madison Square Garden and Twickenham shows,I was eagerly awaiting the Four Flicks DVD set! After a lot of hours spread over 2 days watching the 4 discs, all my expectations were more than I ever believed possible. The camera-work,sound,bonus features, were all the best I have ever seen or heard on a music DVD.Starting with the documentary disc which was realy interesting in looking at what go's on in the world of the Rolling Stones when they are on tour!Lots of bits of rehearsal footage and informal chats within the band. The New York show was brilliant as Madison Square Garden is a great indoor arena, the Stones were in top form and played a great setlist! This included Midnight Rambler,Can't you hear me knockin'as well as the old favourites.Twickenham is my personal best show of the tour as I was in the 4th row that night! It was the first time the Stones have played Twickenham Rugby Ground .............the first time any band have played there!Atmosphere of the day is reflected at the start of DVD with scenes of outside the stadium and then arial views of stadium and huge crowd and then breaks into the first number.......Brown Sugar, and the crowd go's wild! This was a fantastic show and the DVD clearly shows this. The Olympia theatre show was a small intimate show that all diehard Stones fans would love to see but tickets for these shows were very hard to come by,so this excellant DVD of the gig is the next best thing.Plenty of tracks like No Expectations,Hand of Fate and Live With Me would appeal to the diehard fans as well as a few soul numbers and old faves like Start me up,Honkey Tonk Women and of course the song they usually have as an encore,Jumping Jack Flash. All in all,4 terrific DVD's with plenty of added features like back-stage pass and band commentary which you can add on to show while watching if you so desire. The best music DVD's I have in my collection.
