It's an ok trainer, but it's not a Samba
Never look a gift horse in the mouth, always leave out sherry for Santa and don't meddle with a classic.

The toe cap has been changed and is narrower, it now looks pointed and is smaller. What makes this twice as bad however is that the inner sole heel is higher and with feet now inclining into the ground my toes are being gently encouraged into this pinchier, smaller space. Although there is still some of the standard Adidas arch support it feels like a woman's shoe, especially brand new. I'm searching now to see if they make women's Sambas and I've been sent the wrong sort... no they don't. Luckily they don't look like high heels and the grip is the same.

I've let my new Sambas wear in for 2 to 3 weeks to see if they would magically morph into the old style. Unfortunately not. Wearing my old Sambas I feel like wearing a grown-up's pair of trainers again rather than those of a presumptious 14 year old who thinks his taste in music is great.

It almost looks the same, costs the same but it feels and smells different (although the smelling part might be down to less exposure to my feet).

Probably the best trainers in the world - well, certainly not far off!
Comfortable, hard wearing, iconic, all are words that are apt.
Adidas is far and away my favourite label based mainly on the 3 stripe design and these trainers more than look the part. Perfect for the street, the pub or the office on a dress down day. Timeless and yet somehow always modern, these will fit almost all subcultures & ages (something that can't be said of some of the monstrosities that masquerade as footwear).
My last pair lasted a good 3 or 4 years of frequent use. Now I didn't play football in them so obviously astro turf may limit that lifespan slightly but as far as I'm concerned they were good VFM.
Excellent service from the supplier too - got them in a couple of days with no hitches.
