Customer Reviews
An enjoyable read and a classic
This book is another by David Ogilvy that was a pleasure to read from cover to cover. It's great fun, wittily written, and full of good points. The advertisements are, of course, rather different from those we are used to seeing today, but the thinking and approach are as relevant as ever.
Still relevant after all these years
I read this book years ago when I started off in advertising, and re-read it just recently. I have to say it's still as relevant now. I've always thought that regardless of the media choice, the principles underlying a great commercial creative idea are the same. This book is a great grounding in some of those timeless lessons about how to communicate persuasively. The author was himself responsible for some of the all-time-great campaigns in the history of advertising, and many of today's copy writers can learn a thing or two from reading this book. It's informative and refreshingly easy to read, despite the slightly anachronistic illustrative examples!
Confessions of an Ad Man
Brilliant - not only great advice in running an agency but general principles in life.
