Adopting a Child: A guide for people interested in adoption
Have you ever thought of adopting a child? If so, this book is for you. It tells you:
* about the kinds of children who are looking for new families
* the reasons why people adopt children
* what sort of people adoption agencies are looking for and why
* how to go about it - including the legal aspects and the costs of adopting both in the UK and overseas
* about intercountry adoption and adoption of stepchildren
* what happens after adoption
* a list of agencies and useful organisations.
Brought to life with attractive photographs and the experiences of people who have been through the adoption process themselves, this book is essential reading for anyone considering adoption.

Customer Reviews
Read this first!
This is the definitive book for UK adopters. As far as I can tell, most of the books here on Amazon about adoption are by US authors and detail the US system (obviously). This one takes you through the UK process step by step and has all the contact details you could possibly need. It also covers alternatives to adoption that I had not known existed.
It's up to date and realistic. Read this book before any others.
Over priced for very little information
This had very little extra information that cannot be accessed on the internet. It is a small book and just under half the book is taken up with contact information for adoption agencies which again can be found on the internet. I did not feel this was worth the money.
Useful info in an approachable format
A good place to start for anyone seriously considering adoption. Information is easy to find and written in an accessible way, making the whole process seem a lot less scary than we expected it to!
