While it is a universal truism that as soon as you inject an element of humour into rock and roll it's immediately rendered disposable, unlistenable and, ultimately, unfunny, Californian hardcore stalwarts the Vandals would beg to differ. Hitler Bad, Vandals Good is nothing short of prime, hardcore mosh fodder with a side order of hilarity. "My Girlfriend's Dead" is pure genius--a jolly, Beatlesque romp which shamelessly rhymes "leukemia" with "bulimia". "I've Got An Ape Drape" a deliciously cruel indictment of hockey-haired, trailer-bound, style criminals with achy-breaky, neck-warming mullets, and the band's singular cover of "So Long, Farewell" (from The Sound Of Music) has to be heard to be believed. Of course they don't always play it for laughs, "The People That Are Going To Hell" is a masterful, Redd Kross-styled slice of pounding punk-pop perfection, but the Vandals remain the single most reliable passport to Sniggersville currently operating on Planet Rock. --Ian Fortnam

What an amazing album!
well..what can i say about this album? its great. The cover of "so long, farewell" is just great! its typical vandals so if you like them you will like this album. I think out of the 3 this is the best.

WOW and hilarious - but also really good music
'theres a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall and the bells in the steeple too, and up in the nursery an absurd little bird, is popping out to say cuckoo ~cuckoo~ ~cuckoo~ ~cuckoo~ and regrettfully they tell us, but firmely they compell us to say goodbye, to you' and later on 'the sun...has gone...to bed and so must i' this not just quality music - you cant beat lyrics like that! But theres more - the guy telling his wife/girlfreind how theyre going out for a night of luxury etc etc and that money is not an issue, and at the end of the song 'guess what, heres what...i found 20 bucks!' But not just that but when they write a mormal punk song it is very high quality, of the best i have heard (except the Ataris). This is the second best punk cd i have and it is worth buying!!

I'VE SEEN THE LIGHT!!!
I lent this C.D off a punk-lovin' friend of mine, and I thought the album was amazing. It was the first Vandals album I had heard and it was great. The distinctive rythems for each song stay in your head for ages!!! My best songs on the album are 'My Girlfriend's Dead' and 'People That Are Going To Hell', they may be my two best, but the album's full of song's that are worthy of becoming decent singles (with the exception of 'Okay')And 'I've Got An Ape Drape' is the sort of song you'd hear chanted at an arena. PLEASE buy this album, it's amazing!!!
