Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
The second album by New York City's Scissor Sisters, Ta-Dah, brings with it a huge weight of expectations. After all, their debut album slowly rode up the charts in 2004 to become that year's biggest selling album. The good news is that, like their debut, Ta-Dah is packed full of witty, grown-up pop music. Their influences remain the same, including a bit of 1970's disco and glam rock, a bit of classic Fleetwood Mac and a bit of early Elton John (who plays piano on the ultra-catchy album opener "I Don't Feel Like Dancing"). Musically, it's easily as much fun as their debut: "Land of a Thousand Words" is an homage to the themes from the James Bond films, "She's My Man" tells the tale of a fabled female New Orleans river pirate, "Ooh" is the funkiest dance song never played at Studio 54 and "Kiss You Off" is a liberating break-up anthem sung by the band's Ana Matronic. Lyrically, though, Ta-Dah is not as full of the unchecked hedonism of their first album, with the vaudevillian "Intermission" proclaiming, "We were born to die." But even if the sentiment isn't particularly cheerful, the music definitely is. With Ta-Dah, the Scissor Sisters manage to be both big and clever, once again producing some of the smartest pop music you can dance to. --Ted Kord

one of my favourite albums EVER!!!5
there are twelve fantastic songs here that are played over and over again and are always fun to listen to.
Scissor sisters are a fantastic band to listen to and their songs are amazing!!!!
this album i find is a step up from their first album(which i also love)and the music on each track shows a range of artistic style that really shows off their fantastic talent.
I Dont feel like dancin' is already a classic track,i love She's My Man with a fun beat and catchy lyrics,I Cant Decide is also fun and can be heard in the Doctor Who series three finale-The Last Of The Timelords.
Land of a thousand words has to be my favourite song by the band....why wasnt this used for Casino Royale????
love the album
YOU NEED IT IF YOU LOVE MUSIC!!!

Great fun despite some sloppy production4
Despite generally being in to music with more bite and brutality I found it impossible to resist this album; It's fun, sharp, unashamed and stands out in my music collection. The only disappointment for me was that the 'full' versions of many of the songs on this album aren't quite as sharp as the radio edits. It appears they thinned a whole lot of the dead weight from tracks such as 'She's my man' and 'I don't feel like dancin'' before they put them out and the versions recorded in the album lose their flow and poise due to what can only be described padding. The ordering of the tracks isn't great either, it feels like all the songs are clumped and the weaker tracks were just shuffled later in to the order which means you'll probably listen to this on a track by track basis or rip it to your MP3 player rather than sticking the CD in.

Still, if a bunch of disco throwbacks can sit proudly side by side in my music collection with the Bruce Dickinsons, Metallicas and Serj Tankians of this world that has got to say it all for the quality of 'Ta-Dah'.

Funky and brilliant...5
The Scissor Sisters are one of the best bands to have emerged in recent years. Their first album was an immediate hit and their 2nd has followed the same path of success! American audiances rejected these guys but the UK and the rest of the world has embraced them fully for their funky pop/rock beats and lurid lyrics. As bands go they are indeed different...very surreal but you just can't help loving them! On "Ta Dah!" my favourite songs are 'She's my man' and 'kiss you off'. This album is well worth having in your collection and is great for cheering you up on a gloomy day. Scissor Sisters really do know how to camp it up and they're just so totally cool!

Their music is unique because it combines electronic sounds with rock and some excellent piano melodies. Overall this makes for some interesting music and I never tire of listening to it.
