Starting with a sort of reggae number, this is the Cassadys' most accessible album yet. 'Japan' is positively Sing-along-a-CocoRosie. Still bonkers, of course. Thank God.

KC Rules OK? He does indeed if this new offering is anything to go by. A wondeful voice (that Fife accent), great tunes. Try first and last tracks, but then listen to everything in between.

The year's Best German Electronica Album. They even sing now - in their minimalist way: 'When Love Was the Law in Los Angeles' is almost as get-up-and-dance as Mika's 'Grace Kelly'.

If your heart sinks at the term 'Brit Pop', listen to, say, 'Kingdom of Doom' or 'Nature Springs'. It's like The Kinks all over again, which is high praise indeed.

A reissue, admittedly, but long unavailable and the sort of album that makes you seek out everything else she has done. Try the anthemic 'Us' or the quirky 'Ghost of a Corporate Future'. The goods.
