Customer Reviews
Very good dipping book for beginners or the curious
This is a very good introduction to this ancient and elusively guarded internal (soft) system. The author explains the philosphy of Chi Kung (qi gong) aware that he is writing to a western audience - as some of the claims in the book may be scorned by an incredulous reader - therefore he stresses the importance of readers finding out through their own experiences. This same approach is taken when he discusses the central religious philosophies of Chi Kung - these are discussed but not forced on the reader. The author discusses how Chi Kung can be used for physical, mental and spirtual health as well as improving your martial arts if you practise. A number of practical really beneficial exercises are contained that a beginner on their own can follow. Experienced students may quibble about the lack of more exercises/advanced exercises. A personal observation is that, for a beginner, this book is really for dipping into relevant sections rather than trying to read from cover to cover.
chi kung
I bought this book from amazon and practised the exercises and felt chi within a few weeks. I then learnt from Wong Kiew Kit on a regional course he held in London. Two and a half years later my eyesite has improved so much I`ve had to throw away my glasses becuase they became to strong and my hayfever has dissapeared. Stress and problems seem to have dissapeared and life is great compared to before.
An Ideal Intraduction to Chi Kung
Wong Kiew Kit stands out as a master of not only Chi Kung and Zen Arts but also of communication. The Art of Chi Kung was the first of many books I have bought on this subject area and it stands out as the best easy to read and use introduction to the subject, which appears now to be out in a new edition along with the 'Health & Vitality' title he recently released. Working with his simple but powerful Chi Kung exercises and meditations led me to join one of his weekend classes. Once again he was very practical and uncomplicated face to face. While demanding due respect of his status, he puts his class at ease.
Along with the excellent exercises and meditations, Sifu also injects interesting anecdotal material, some history as well as descriptions of some of the more unusual practices associated with Chi Kung.
Please read this book and 'Chi King for Health and Vitality' for your personal well being and that of family and friends. I regularly send this book through Amazon to family and friends who I feel would benefit.
Thank you Sifu for making ChiKung so accessible!
