Tap into a lifetimes knowledge of movement dysfunction
This book is a must read for every one who deals with musculoskeletal dysfunction, especially those who treat symptoms because they do not know the underlying cause. Of course not everything can be put down to movement impairment but a read of this book will put you in the mindset of considering the "whole" picture, and make you feel guilty for sending patients away after six sessions of electrotherapy.
Shirley Sahrmann should be commended for this refreshing text with my only complaint that she didnt do it a long time ago. If she did maybe physiotherapy would be a more respected profession.
simply essential for any personal trainer
Along with kendall this book is an essential read for any personal trainer worth their salt..it gives clear and consie information on upper and lower extremity dysfunction and provides excellent in depth analysis of muscle length tests to help determine imbalance.
A must have book!
This book represents a hinge in history !
The quantative examination of the movement system has been thoroughly delineated within this text. Punctuated with pictures and clear case studies, this book has become essential reading for those individuals charged with the responsibility of treating musculoskeletal aches and pains. Primary care physicians, Orthopaedic staff, neurology students and of course physical therapists will gain fom the examination and diagnostic methods contained within. When bacteria, trauma, genetics and pseudoscience provide no clues is it really so difficult to think that movement and posture could be CAUSING the pain syndrome? To paraphrase Sahrmann, when you hear hoofbeats - think horses not zebras! Aches and pains have a physical cause - do you have the skills to manage them? This book will clarify the content you need without surreal clinical reasoning concepts from the Southern Hemisphere ;-)
