This product of two different live recordings made during Luna's 1999 Days of Our Nights tour expertly captures Dean Wareham and Co's mesmerising blend of swirl and jangle, wit and cynicism. An admirable set list, solid sound quality and choice bits of clever banter separate this from any less "official" live recording. Well-chosen representatives from each album are enhanced by delicious renditions of encore staples "Bonnie And Clyde" and "4th of July" (a delight for any Galaxie 500 fan). Live provides both the die-hard and the casual enthusiast a means to drift into a dimly lit, smoky venue and become absorbed in the entrancing world created at a Luna performance. --Liz Riley

Live-but don't let that put you off.
A Luna live album presents us with a paradox. As anyone who has seen them live will attest, they are as wonderfully crisp, clever and coy as they are on the stereo late at night. Live albums by anyone though never seem to live up to the promise (how often do you listen to them compared to a favourite artist's studio recordings?) Could a Luna Live album somehow follow this trend and make a sow's ear out of a silk purse? A resounding "Nope!" This is an excellent recording, up there with Dean Wareham's other stuff and includes excellent versions of all the songs you'd suspect and hope for "Chinatown" "Anaestisia" "Bonnie and Clyde" with one or two gems I'd neglected a touch before "4000 Days" and "Pup Tent" Stick this on and an hour or so later you'll be wondering where the time went and exactly how many songs you heard, before sticking it on again and trying to pick out the ones that made you go "Hmm" while aiming to make a life fit this soundtrack. Cool and lovely.

Music industry's best kept secret - live!
Luna have surpassed themselves with what is essentially a live 'best of' album. For those unaquainted with this often overlooked four-piece, 'Luna Live' captures the very essence of what makes this band a joy. Just listen to Anesthesia, Pup Tent, 23 Minutes In Brussels, Friendly Advice and Sideshow by the Seashore, to appreciate the 'cool guitar genius' at work here. If you've ever been a fan of Television or Velvet Underground, but thought they weren't cool enough just try out this album for a real eye-opener!
