Bjork's real debut
An excellent box showcasing the Sugarcubes at their best. The digital recording is clear and sharp, and this is a decent addition to any record collection.
Bjork's vocals defy simile and they are outstanding here.
As I always had a soft spot for Einar, I'll admit I still don't find him irritating here too.
The Sugarcubes whole originality comes from their being outside the Pop mainstream of the UK or USA, the weakest CD in the collection "Stick around for joy" sounds a little too much like the "We're dead wacky!" B-52's, maybe a Rock scholar can confirm if that is because of a need to crack the American market by sounding familair to them. It is that record which stops me from granting the full five stars, as the other two are every bit as good as I remember them.
Art rock you can dance to. Dance music to art to. Whatever it is, it is bright, colourful and expressive. Worth the shelf space in any collection.
