Buy used from: £4.87 OK, so thrash metal isn't a particularly "in" genre. This, however, is the finest example of said genre ever & one of the finest half hour or so's ever recorded.

Buy new: £14.19 / Used from: £11.19 It was a tough call whether to go with the rollercoaster album or this, to be honest. Buy both, though this one's a better LP - a brooding masterpiece with possibly their finest moment, "Shadows".

Buy new: £20.99 / Used from: £9.29 OK, so I've cheated here. FLA are one of my favourites though, and since this has two classic albums on it this CD edges over any single LP from their back catalogue. Hard electro at its finest.

Buy new: £10.98 / Used from: £4.49 Anyone with even a passing interst in punk should own this. Features all the classics, including "Too Drunk..." on the bonus disc.

Buy used from: £4.19 How these were never a huge band mystifies me. The final LP with Tanya Donnelly as a member by, in my opinion, the best female fronted rock band of the past 20 years.

Buy new: £6.68 / Used from: £3.17 This was another tough one to call, but as well as being a masterpiece it's an ideal introduction to Cave's music, featuring beautiful ballads, harsh rock & the peerless "Red Right Hand".

Buy new: £9.98 / Used from: £4.74 This is a great introduction to the only band I can think of actually deserve to be described as "seminal". You don't have to like punk to like this, either - it trancends the genre.

Buy used from: £11.43 Many think "Streetcleaner" is their finest hour but I disagree. Christ, you can even dance to it due to the use of breakbeats. If you like heavy music you shouldn't be without this, basically.
