Albums I won't tire of listening to (no particular order)
Simple ThingsSimple Things by Zero 7
Buy new: £5.78 / Used from: £2.48
I consider this to be my "Zen" album. It's not because it's hippy (it's certainly not) but the music style and sheer inventiveness takes you to a calm place without putting you to sleep!
Wish You Were HereWish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Buy new: £6.98 / Used from: £4.49
Pink Floyd are a band I have likes since I was a kid (even though they were on the wane by then), I discovered this album after many of the others. I love it and it's probably my favourite of theirs
Ta Dah!Ta Dah! by Scissor Sisters
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £0.44
A cheeky entry onto my list. As a second album it is impressive and matches the verve they show in their live shows. Feel good music with depth and irony for good measure.
Greatest Hits 1970-2002Greatest Hits 1970-2002 by Elton John
Buy used from: £14.58
Elton John is one of favourite songwriters of all time and his early works with his voice so sweetly hitting the high notes effortlessly, is a joy to listen to time and time again. Always nostalgic.
When It FallsWhen It Falls by Zero 7
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £1.57
Another Zero7 album on my list, I could probably put all their works in here, but I chose this because it is a fantastic follow-up album, and builds on their earlier music.
The Dark Side of the MoonThe Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd
Buy new: £7.08 / Used from: £3.99
I have nothing to add to the thousands (perhaps millions) of column inches and commentary already expressed about this masterpiece. Just play it, sit back and enjoy it.
The BendsThe Bends by Radiohead
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £2.39
I like Radiohead (and have seen them in concert a few times). This album is my favorite in terms of being able to play t over and over again for sheer immediate impact and escapism
MagnoliaMagnolia by Original Soundtrack
Buy new: £6.88 / Used from: £1.59
One of the most moving film song collections ever. Majority of songs are by Aimee Mann (there are a couple at the end not by her) and they capture the mood and morality of the film perfectly.
The GardenThe Garden by Zero 7
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £2.24
Another entry from Zero7 into my list. The inclusion of Jose Gonzalez on some tracks is inspired and very coherent with the rest of the very inventive album
The Seldom Seen KidThe Seldom Seen Kid by Elbow
Buy new: £4.48 / Used from: £3.99
So far this is the pinnacle of Elbow's series of albums. They are an inspiring all inclusive band, I have seen them in concert and the audience covers cross section of all society and ages. Fantastic
Leaders Of The Free WorldLeaders Of The Free World by Elbow
Buy new: £3.48 / Used from: £3.16
This is, so far, my second favourite Elbow CD
Lost In SpaceLost In Space by Aimee Mann
Buy new: £11.98 / Used from: £3.00
The Magnolia soundtrack songs apart, this album is currently my favourite one by Aimee Mann. I find her style of writing and singing very poignant.
Brother SisterBrother Sister by The Brand New Heavies
Buy new: £4.98 / Used from: £2.49
A classic of its time and for me still remains a classic.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club BandSgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles
Buy new: £7.98 / Used from: £6.92
There isn't anything I can add to the amount of praise or otherwise that has already been written about Sgt Pepper. All I can say is I enjoy listening to it time and time again.
Flowering SpadeFlowering Spade by Sean Hayes
Buy new: £15.99 / Used from: £18.35
Sean Hayes' music is a recent discovery for me. I came across him on Aimee Mann's "Smilers" album on a duet on there. This album is my favourite by him. I really like it.
Hunky DoryHunky Dory by David Bowie
Buy new: £5.18 / Used from: £2.98
David Bowie, genius & timeless artist. This album is the most consistent for me, and the one I can just pick up and feel good on playing it. Full of classics too (e.g. Life on Mars!)
