excitement, changes and death 1939-1945
What an amazing place Otter's Lincolnshire proves to be. Many tales of heroism, stupidity and dead airmen and the impact of servicemen and women from all over the globe on wartime Lincolnshire. It's cleverly organised in every respect bar one. The map numbering the airfields (to which one wishes to refer often as the story unfolds)should use the same numbers as the chapters for each airfield, but doesn't. That makes for complications that should have been avoided. Otherwise this is a stirring and important work on the war years that leaves one wishing for more narrative about the impact on the local civil population. Perhaps Otter could do that next...
