Excellent detail. It is interesting to see locations and track what happened to the sites after the war.

Not a book, more a catalogue3
I bought this book as a present for my father at Christmas. As an old RAF hand, he had seen this series of books (there are several books in the series, covering the whole of Britain) mentioned in print somewhere. Whilst it is exhaustively researched and very comprehensive, it really is just a catalogue of (mostly defunct) airfields, giving basic information on each: location details, site plan and a paragraph or two of historical information. If you're interested in touring around an area, visiting long lost airfields, this series of books is the ultimate source of information. If you're feeling nostalgic for your old base and would like to sit by the fireside and read something of substance about it, then sadly this isn't the book.
