About the Author
Rex Bunn is a well known Australian inventor and author, with several patents for the conservation of classic motorcycles. Membership of several motorcycle clubs keeps him plugged into many classic riding circles, and encourages his long-distance riding throughout Australia and New Zealand. In earlier careers he's been variously a radiographer, health economist, builders mate, market researcher, sausage skin salesman, lecturer and fly fisherman. He rides BSA Unit singles for no clear reason, but is also often seen on a Harley Sportster.

Customer Reviews

A definite 'must-have' for the classic motorcycle enthusiast!5
As the title says, it's a guide for owners (and intending owners), of classic motorcycles. However, this is more than another techo book about leaky old Brit bikes. It's quite unlike any other motorcycling book I've ever read.

The book takes an international approach, covering every aspect of buying, riding, restoring and maintaining classic motorcycles, sure enough. It goes on to tally surviving classic bikes around the world, breaking them down by country and even giving `Top Ten' marque shares! The author looks into "the joy of motorcycling". He lays out reasons for its attraction, drawing on international research. In one of many useful sections, the author debates rider training and safety, with challenging conclusions for classic riders.

I found the "Bonnie Index" chapter a high point. This is the first time anything like this has been published. It's a `Consumer Price Index' for classic bikes, forecasting prices to 2010. This is a must-have for members buying or selling a classic bike.

It's hard to categorise this book and its style. It's a bit like `Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' and workshop manual.

The author gives lots of DIY advice. He invented the Bunn Breather, and there's a discount voucher in the book for readers. The yarns throughout the book are a delight. I enjoyed this book. At 280 pages, it captures classic motorcycling.
