Limitations of the staging aside, this is for the most part a superbly played and sung performance of Handel's first operatic hit in England. David Daniels shines as the eponymous hero.

One of Handel's greatest operas - here in the original Italian; some distinguished singing by Graham Pushee as Cesare and Yvonne Kenny as Cleopatra.

Superb, if slightly controversial, staging of Handel's best known opera from Glyndebourne. Superb playing and engaging singing from a very good cast. Highly recommended.

Giulio Cesare from the Liceu in Barcelona - Flavio Oliver (male soprano) as Cesare. Additions from Rinaldo, Orlando etc and many cuts/rearrangements. Interesting staging but some ordinary singing.

Superb Glyndebourne account of Handel's last oratorio. Excellent playing by the OAE under William Christie, and wonderful singing from David Daniels and Lorraine Hunt Lieberson

Nicely staged and sung alternative to the above Agrippina. Better all round.
