Poor value for money
Have had this book on my wishlist for ages as I am somewhat addicted to velvet, but also to all things pertaining to textile craft. Finally got round to ordering it and what a letdown! It's incredibly slender at only 24 pages and the few techniques shown for manipulations like burning, stitching and enhancing colour (either through dying or discharging existing colour) seem almost designed to impair the innate beauty of velvet rather than enhance it. Literally every photo seems to show a poor innocent piece of fabric that has been overworked to the point of destruction. I grant this is an aesthetic preference of mine and others may not agree, but for this price almost any other book on fabric manipulation will surely have more information.
