Customer Reviews
Efficient guidebook, if a little dry
Gillian Price's book guided us very sensibly around the Dolomites last summer, and in terms of description of routes and estimation of difficulty it would be hard to fault it. Her coverage of flora and fauna was also excellent. Don't expect to be too thrilled by it, though; the author leaves you to discover the real beauty of the area for yourself, as the pages do not exactly brim with mouth watering descriptions. Also, hostels in the Dolomites vary from the basic and colourful to the commercial/industrial (although with nice showers)and the book does not give much indication of individual hostel character.
In summary, it's a bit lacking in warmth and human detail, but it delivers what it promises: a very efficient guide to walking in the dolomites, which gives accurate descriptions of the routes involved, and of their length and difficulty.
Excellent Guidebook
I've used this book on 2 trips I organised to the Dolomites, and found it to be excellent, lots of walks, many of which can be completed in a day.
If you planning a trip, it's a must buy. You need to buy the Tabacco maps mentioned at the start of each walk, in order to get the most from the book.
