Customer Reviews
a colossal classical masterpiece
The tenors Alvarez and Licitra combine wonderfully to deliver a truly memorable concert. Each song is treated passionately and the setting complements the whole evenings entertainment, though that said I feel they could have swept around the architectural delights a little more frequently and slowly. If you are looking for an equally enriched DVD as far as extras go then you will be sadly dissapointed, as all that is really packaged on top is a small gallery of still images of the two tenors and a small behind the scenes piece. Ultimately this is simply a DVD of the concert, but ultimately that is plentiful. This is a DVD about the music, the musicians and the tenors and thankfully does not drift down the road of many other concert DVDs that spend an eternity filming the audience. Whether you are new to such style or a die hard fan of the likes of Pavarotti & co, you will be in for a real treat. Worth the money without a doubt!
An Absolute Gem Of A DVD !!!!!!!
Just caught part of this concert three years ago when it was shown on TV, and have been searching for it ever since !!!!!It goes perfectly with the CD that came out at the same time, also quite fabulous, and the DVD of the concert is a perfect companion.
Nothing "arty farty" about this DVD, the camera work is great, plain and simple- it keeps the camera on the artists and shows their performance off to perfection, though it can't fail to capture the glorious setting of the Colosseum, just makes you wish you'd been there!!!
It would have been a bonus to have seen more in the back-stage preparation, there is just a snippet, but it more than makes up for this in the concert itself.
If you have the CD, you just must have this !!!!!!
