Synopsis
This best-selling title will be relaunched in June 05 with a fresh new cover design. Many leisure painters prefer to paint outdoors, finding it both challenging and inspirational. In this book well-known and respected TV artist Alwyn Crawshaw provides an essential introduction to this exciting subject. There is something particularly appealing about painting outdoors, surrounded by a never-ending range of subjects, all of which can vary from one moment to the next according to the weather and the time of day. Here Alwyn Crawshaw provides plenty of practical advice about painting on location and explains all the basic techniques you will need to know. The book includes many practical exercises and step-by-step demonstration paintings of a variety of different subjects, including landscapes, buildings, animals, people, water and boats. There are also useful sections on drawing with a brush, composing a picture, using pen and wash, simplifying nature and recording your holiday.

Inspiration for a first time water-colourist!
A well put together guide for an aspiring painter of water colour, the most difficult of mediums.Simple step by step instruction,of how to build up to the finished painting, makes a real'frame, and hang-on-the-wall'picture,seem achievable. In fact, after following the instuctions, exactly(and a certain amount of practice!)I do have a painting to be proud of.Thanks, Alwyn,I'm suitably inspired to go outdoors and paint in watercolour, which was my goal and I look forward to the next of your books!
