About the Author
Darcey Bussell joined the Royal Ballet School when she was 13 and, despite starting later than most of the other students, became a Principal of the Royal Ballet at just 19, at the time the youngest ballerina ever to be given this honour. Darcey received both the OBE and CBE awards during her time with the Royal Ballet, and since officially retiring in 2007 she has teamed up with Katherine Jenkins in the phenomenally successful Viva la Diva. She is married with two daughters.

Lovely little books
I was reluctant to get these books, but my little 5yr old dancer liked the sparkly cover (which was what put me off)....... we started on book 1 and are zooming through book 4 now, a few months later.
I like...
- large print so all three children (ages 5, 7 and 9)can follow the text as I read it; also makes it so easy for my 9yr dyslexic old son to sneak the book from his sister's room to finish it in secret. Yippee, he's reading!!!! I wish more children's books were large print.... these are also quite short, so really manageable.
- the stories all include characters from ballets and it does make us all want to know more about the ballets.
- the back of each book has a well explained ballet move - my 7yr old son loves practising those.
- the stories are complex and punchy enough to keep the pages turning.
I don't like....
- some of the prose. It's a bit weak, and we have all started to snigger as the main character "gasps" yet again; similarly the characters are rather watery, but the children don't seem to mind!!
All in all a lovely set, great for reading aloud or for read alone for young readers who are just starting to gain a bit of confidence.
wonderful book
Father Christmas bought this for our 5 year old daughter. We have just finished reading it to her and she loved it, cant stop talking about it and is desperate to read the next one!
A nice read
This is a really nice exiting story. I think all young girls will enjoy this story not just 'all young girls who dream of being a ballerina, or simply love to dance' as it says in the books information.
Two Kinds Of Magic!
