Who's the dumbbell then?
Er ... thought I was buying a pair but when it arrived I realised it was my fault - a pair was not promised except in my mind. Anyway, these are high quality and stylishly old fashioned; rather bring up the image of a big Victorian chap in a leotard with curled moustaches. The knurling on the handle is of such precision that it cuts into the skin a bit - a good grip but not everyone may like it. I do find the rubber smell off-putting. See my comments on the more modern version (I *intended* to buy a match for these but screwed up again!), which is more cuddly. The hex shape of both is good because it prevents unintended rolling. For both I was further narked when a few days later, Amazon and the manufacturer offered a full set of their dumbbells for a mouth-watering price - too late for me!
Great for small hands!
As a personal trainer i need to have a range of dumbbells for my clients plus i train myself. I have found that some dumbbells when reach the 4kg weight & above have wider stem girths. This can cause problems with the tensor/flexor muscles for smaller hands & personally, will aggravate my tennis elbow. With this in mind i researched to discover the Hex Dumbbells. These are proving to be a great success & have not experienced the usual muscular cramps. The minor negative comment i would make is the very sticky labels stuck to the stem & extremely difficult to totally remove. Otherwise a great product.
BEWARE WHEN BUYING
The weights themselves I cannot fault, although when I bought the weights I was expecting them to come in a PAIR. It seems that is not the case if you want 2 to work with, you must add 2 to your basket!
