Cute and does what it's meant to do4
I've been searching around for a decent netbook for a while, and I think I may possibly have come across one.

Acer, in my opinion, produces the best netbooks at the moment. Whilst Dell, HP and Asus also sell good quality, smart-looking netbooks, Acer is better on price, and in capability.

I wasn't too fussed about going for the Linux or Windows version, but just for slightly more ease, I did decide to go for Windows. Downside - it actually took 30 minutes for the netbook to load, setup, boot and reboot. And actually, after doing the initial Windows setup, the system froze and I had to press the power key to shut down and start again. Thankfully, everything seems to be working in perfect order. Windows then loads and goes about installing about 15 different things before you can get started.

The quality and finish for the product is pretty good. The pink is SO cute. I was expecting the size of the screen to be a bit bigger, (there's about an inch border around it of nothing). But the downsides, in terms of hardware are: firstly, my F1 key is about to fall off. I've thought about returning the whole product, but then I thought "how often do I use the F1 key?" - never. Secondly, I was totally confused by the wireless switch. I thought it was a switch, but wrong, it's a slide. Slide to turn on, and slide it to turn off. Thirdly, the SD card reader. For most readers you can slide the card in and it bounces in and out. This one didn't, I had to prise it out with my fingernails afterwards. And lastly, the USB ports are SO stiff. It took all my might to get the USB pen in and then out. I suppose, you could call it secure.

Up sides are that everything (so far, touch wood) is working like a dream. Webcam is actually of decent quality. The weight is just right, and battery life seems to be doing well. Video quality is also pretty decent. The keypad is just right, but i'll need to get used to typing closer together. The mousepad, with its odd position of left and right buttons won't throw you off completely, will just take some getting used to.

So, to conclude... I'm overall happy, just one or two niggly things that I don't like and didn't expect. It's definitely a netbook, and I wouldn't suggest that you do major high performance things on this. Type a document, send an e-mail, browse, skype a little, and that's it. Don't expect to play games or watch movies on this.

I would recommend this netbook, but if you're an experienced PC user, I'd say go for the Linux version, you won't scream half as much I think.

Edit: 18th April 2009 - I have just discovered that both my SD card reader ports work fine. They do click in and click out as they should. Im not too sure what happened the first time round. Apologies for misleading people - all is working very well, and after 2 months, I'm still a very satisfied customer.

So far has proved to be the perfect present 5
We bought this for our 10 yr old daugter and so far the Acer has lived up to all expectations. She loves it. Researched quite a bit on the internet and to be honest got a little confused with all the info and varying reviews. Knew it had to be pink!!. She has used the netbook alot, mainly for homework but also the internet and emailing and have had no problems. Was concerned it would be slow but hasn't been an issue. Would I choose this netbook again. Yes definately.

Lovely Product5
This product is stunning. Works perfectly ok. The one that comes with Windows operating system is a bit more expensive bcos of the License. It's worth the price.
