Amazon.co.uk Review
This prime-time computer animated series from Dreamworks was unceremoniously cancelled following declining ratings coupled with the high budget per episode (estimated at $1.6 million). The series follows a family of white lions who work as performers for Seigfried & Roy in Las Vegas, where they and their animal friends are located in a town of their own going about day to day life outside of the jungle they were plucked from. John Goodman, Cheryl Hines, Orlando Jones and Carl Reiner headline the voice cast.
Synopsis
One of the most expensive sitcoms in history at 1.6 million dollars an episode, the entirely computer animated FATHER OF THE PRIDE aired on NBC during the 2004 season. Featuring the voices of John Goodman, Cheryl Hines, and Carl Reiner, the show envisioned a family of lions in the employ of Las Vegas magician-showmen Siegfried and Roy. Surrounded by the other animals of the magic show and the wacky magicians themselves, parents Larry (Goodman) and Kate (Hines) struggle to raise their children in a stable environment. Despite the cuddly animated characters, many of the jokes on the show were firmly aimed towards an adult audience, generating the possibility of enjoyment for all ages, much like the same studio's SHREK films.

Very funny cartoon for adults
I loved this series of Father of the Pride. It has alot of adult humor and mild sexual references. The animation is beautiful, and the series is very enjoyable. Too bad it only lasted for one season. All I can say is: get this DVD set which is definately worth it's money !
An adult orientated cartoon about soft cuddly looking animals.
Ok first things first this show isn't aimed at the Furries, there may be the odd beastality joke but that is as far as it goes! The thing that makes this show great is that we can all associate with it. The Zoo is basically it's own little town and the writers bring it as close to real life situations as they can possibly get it. Essentially the same as premise every sitcom out there except the style of humour is something you'd expect more on late night TV talkshows.
This show is unique in how it combines so many aspects of humour into each 25 minute show and there seems to be no boundries the writers wouldn't push!
Definatly worth watching the a few episodes on More4, problem is you'll probably end up buying the DVD.
Uncommon genius
Superb comedy series. Have watched it over and over - extremly funny. Sarmoni the wise cracking lion is probably the best character. Can't understand why they canned the series. Animated adult humour doesn't get much better! Watch it!
