Whether you’re heading for the Sierras or the costas, historic towns or cosmopolitan cities, this guide has a huge variety of places to choose from. There are simple Casas de Aldea (small traditional houses in remote rural settings), restored monasteries and palaces and modernist buildings with all the contemporary designer trimmings. Make the most of courses and activities organised by inspiring owners: wine tasting, walking, mushroom picking, pottery, yoga. Stride out on walking holidays in the National Parks, recharge your batteries by the pool and make the most of some terrific regional and international cooking. The entries in this guide are special in many different ways: places are chosen for the warmth of their welcome, their style – whether simple or sumptuous – and good value for money and environmental awareness are important too.

From the Inside Flap
This edition sings with 96 new places. Terrific value, too - nearly 200 places with double rooms at €70 or less.
The Spain we love, peopled by wonderful characters and decorated with a stunning variety of fascinating buildings.
Majestic high-ceilinged bedrooms, old prints and hand-painted furniture, fountains and gardens - a Spain in which to linger.
These places take care of people, and we try to take care of the environment - with 'green' and social policies, and an eco-office.

Invaluable
If, like me, you're not a fan of souless large hotels then this book is for you. Covering all of Spain the accommodation featured ranges from small and cheap to large and costly - and everything in between. What is consistent is that every place (that we stayed anyway) has a WOW factor - that something special that means you won't forget it. And the reviews, although short, attempt to be truthful helping you ensure it's the place for you.
As essential as your passport
An absolute must for anyone visiting, or even living in Spain, who likes to stay 'somewhere a bit different'. I have stayed in a number of the paradors listed in the book, from the Pyranees to Seville and have not been disappointed.
The absolute essential guide to authentic Spain at its best
We have for many years enjoyed travelling in northern France for short mini-breaks or stopovers en route to our final holiday destination and we have found the Alistair Sawday guide an absolute essential.
So when we were planning our Andalucian 10 day break in May with our two young girls we knew exactly where to go to find a selection of authentic, affordable fincas and casas where the hospitality is second to none.
Our favourite stopover, high up in the Alpujarras, was Casa Rural El Paraje, a derelict finca lovingly restored by a charming dutch couple, Anita Beijer & Walter Michels who have transformed their new home into a chic, "boutique" bed and breakfast stopover. Walter is very talented in the kitchen where he prepares an extremely affordable 15 euro 3 course evening meal whilst Anita, multi-lingual, engages in warm hospitality with her guests. The view from the terrace is phenomenal and stretches miles across the Alpujarras.
We just wouldn't have come across these lovely folk without the Alistair Sawday guide.
