Product Description
This easy to read book includes full colour pictures and quotes from the tapes. In producing the CD, we have retained the sense of authenticity by keeping the tapes as near as possible to their original form. Roberts was honoured that Shankly agreed to open his heart to him and divulge the story of his inside track on his life and times at Anfield. Roberts was commissioned to write an autobiography that would become a fascinating chronicle of the great man s journey through football and life. Roberts would sit with Shankly for hours on end, capturing his every thought on an old fashioned cassette tape recorder. 30 years on, Roberts discovered he still possessed these tapes in his attic. On the CD you can hear everything from the clock chiming in Shankly s home, to his wife offering tea and refreshments during the interview sessions for the autobiography. It revels with Shankly in his team building, in his many successes and also reveals why he quit after 16 years at the top. Now Shankly speaks again as you ve never heard him before.
