'Someone had wanted her to die and had brought her to a twisted, broken death. Now he would kill for her - once, twice, three times - as many times as proved necessary - to avenge her death and finally let her rest in peace. 'Twenty years earlier a young woman falls tragically to her death. The only people with her are four schoolfriends. One - or maybe all of them - is responsible. And there's someone intent on letting them have their just desserts. DCI Andrew Fenwick is soon caught up in a desperate race against time to find the murderer before he completes his bloody vendetta. As the death toll mounts, Fenwick stares failure in the face - unless he can draw the predator out of the shadows and into an unconventional and highly dangerous trap with the ultimate bait.

Gritty and realistic murders set in suburban Britain
I can't believe how little known this author seems to be...but now I've discovered her I'll definitely be reading the next books featuring DCI Andrew Fenwick.
This particular story begins with a crime so the reader knows what happened in the past...but not 'whodunit' until a little later. The majority of the book is set in the present and is realistic, well thought out and engaging.
If I had to liken the style of writing to any other author it would be Mark Billingham, not because of any of the ideas but because it's set in England and is a well planned, gripping thriller
Excellent Read. I could not put it down!
Truly excellent read and a marvelous book from Corley. Her detective is a real human being, and the many facets of his life are handled expertly, interweaving with the main plot. The plot is gripping, thoroughly researched and unfolds well for the reader. I have already bought her second book and can't wait to begin it!
well written detective novel
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can recommend it highly. It is well written, with a strong story line that keeps your attention as the plot weaves about the central characters. for once, the policeman is actually a believable person in the mould of Morse and Frost.
