Well written thought provoking angling literature.
Geoffrey Bucknall has compiled an angling book of exceptional detail while managing to keep things readable and interesting. A difficult task in angling literature at the best of times, Geoffrey has accomplished it with aplomb. Everything from light line tactics to Ritz casting and from fishing for wild river trout to a cast on lochs in remote far away places, its all there. Highly recommended.
missed opportunity
I was disappointed by this book. What is particularly frustrating is that the author describes many flies which I've never heard of in my 20 years of brown trout fly-fishing - as if they were common knowledge! I've no doubt he is an expert trout angler but he fails to convey this coherently to the reader. Having said that, I fully agree with his philosophy on the attraction of wild trout fishing compared to the ubiquitous stocked rainbow trout fishing and he puts his point across well on this issue. Worth a read but don't get your hopes up!
