Product Description

Ian Botham's wit and wisdom infuse this book. In the introduction he tells how he first learned to fish and his own passion for the sport. Three sections follow on fly fishing, coarse fishing and sea fishing. Packed with anecdotes and stories, there are also instructions and diagrams, compendia of equipment and bait, sections on Botham's favourite rivers and how to fish them, and guides to everything from the life cycle of a game fish to cleaning, gutting, filleting and cooking your catch outdoors. Threaded throughout are the author's own experiences, both in Britain and around the world - flyfishing with David Lloyd and Mike Atherton in Australia, Big Game fishing with Viv Richards in the West Indies, Masheer fishing in India and trout fishing in New Zealand. A delightful and informative take on one of the nation's favourite sports.

"a perfect introduction to the novice, as well as containing enough information to be of interest to anyone in love with fishing." (ANGLING TIMES, 11 November 08 )

Customer Reviews

Disappointing like a Botham duck!1
The book lacks a focus and tries to cover too much ground (or should that be water?). It also lacks humour! The section on coarse fishing only illustrates Botham's lack of interest, the book focuses on fly fishing and more specifically fly fishing locations around the UK and Ireland but with no tales! Every fisherman tells a good tale about fishing, whichever method that is and I expected so much more from one of my biggest childhood hero's.

Book review3
Book as described. Perhaps not the best buy for an experienced fisherman. My husband hasn't felt drawn to reading it.Shame!
