Hugh samples seasonal food
In keeping with the previous Spring series this latest River Cottage offering is less about Hugh's attempts to maintain a small-holding and run a business than about what others can do with their own plot of land. He matches up people with land but with no enthusiasm to grow their own food with people with the enthusiasm but no land. This Landshare concept is a simple and worthy idea that creates an interesting structure to a program that could otherwise feel as if it's going over old ground.

The novices' gradual successes and problems are fun to watch and these are interspersed with the usual challenges such as making a banquet only out of things that have been foraged. Exactly how useful this all is as a guide to being self-sufficient I don't know, but it's certainly entertaining and provides one of the few chances you'll ever have to see squirrel ragout.
