Jenny Alexander's new book offers a fresh approach to dealing with bullying - both immediately and in the longer term. Helpful 'training sessions' for every day of the week show children that they can take immediate steps to start bullyproofing themselves. But the book also provides long-term help by encouraging children to keep up their 'training' over several weeks, to make sure their self esteem stays high and they keep building solid defences against bullying.
Start bully-proofing now!

Engaging and empowering
"Bullying is wrong, end of. It's simply never acceptable to blame it on the victim" Jenny Alexander.
Thank you! - when I approached my daughter's school about long running friendship issues and bullying, I was told that my child was not resilient enough. This left me feeling cold-shouldered (simply another troublesome parent), powerless and angry.
Using this book I was able to empower both myself, and my nine year old daughter. The 7 Day program (which can actually be run over ten weeks by varying the exercises Jenny has provided) was very easy to implement. My daughter and I had special time together on a daily basis for two weeks. During this time we ate chocolate and discussed how the day went, the success (or otherwise) of the strategies and talked about what strategies she would start to develop the next day. I told her that it was a bit like learning a martial art - these strategies needed practice.
It was great, and my daughter found it really helpful. After two weeks I was getting a little jaded but the book will remain a very useful resource and we will continue to practice those strategies which worked for my daughter. My daughter particularly enjoyed and benefitted from having "Mum and daughter" time and the book gave us the tools to make that time really work for us. Having said that, the bullying that my daughter was experiencing was fairly lightweight compared to what regularly goes on, and bullied children (and their parents) may need extra support.
This is an engaging, inexpensive book which suggests well thought out and easy to implement strategies to "bully-proof" yourself and your child - buy it.
