The bully meets his match when faced with a real bull...4
A class bully gets beaten by the hero during a running race and he threatens revenge. He corners the boy and wants to fight, but the quick thinking hero suggests a challenge.

They meet up outside a farmer's field and the challenge is to scare the farmer's bull by pretending to be a matador. The boy completes his part of the bargain but the bully is scared and he, and his supporters, run away.

The hero goes home to be told by his father that this was not the bull that he has known for years, but a new and dangerous bull that is on loan. The hero feels sick thinking about it.

This story makes the bully look small and foolish. It also makes the boy think twice about his lucky escape. He realises he had been in real danger and had had a lucky escape.

The twist in the tail is a great ending, and makes the reader think about the moral of the story.

This is a book suitable for Key stage 1 and 2 readers.
