One of the great Latin letter-writers5
I've got the old, out-of-print Alpha Classics copy of this book, so it's good to see that Bolchazy-Carducci have reissued it. Erasmus is a pleasure to read: he's often very witty, even when moaning -- his favourite occupation -- to friends about the English weather or the filthy English houses, or the state of his health, or the damp in the low countries, or dangers of travelling by coach and so forth.

Facer's edition has short extracts with helpful notes for translating plus a vocabulary and an introduction. These Alpha Classics books were originally intended for school use, but adult Latin students will doubtless enjoy this even more.
