If it does the job then at what cost to performance?
I have a Windows XP Pentium 4 laptop with 1.2Ghz, 256Mb RAM - in other words a fairly standard config. But it seems that my PC doesn't have the uumph to handle this software which is very resource intensive. It takes ages to boot up and shut down, and, if it is scanning something when I am midway through browsing then I basically have to wait until it finishes.

I have a firewall on my modem/router and I thought that I was getting Virus and Anti- Spyware only from this product - but there is also a firewall. So, I've had to disable it since it would not allow me access to wireless, or the Internet and I don't need it anyway.

So, I guess that I have to live with it, but please can they speed up the next version, and drop the number of processes which currently consume so much memory.

such a disappointment
Good internet security software, but makes the bootup process to take up to 2 or 3 minutes. That's really annoying considering my system is an Athlon 64 3200+, 2GBs RAM, HDD160GBs @10000rpms and a fresh installed win xp system. It's even slower than the 2005 version! I switch the pc on, go make myself some coffee, drink the hole thing, wait for some secs and then boom! Ready to work with this baby!

If you have a slow pc (slower than mine) don't buy Panda. If not and you've got patience or you like to do stuff while your pc struggles to bootup, then buy this piece of software cause it's a good antivirus-antispyware and has got a firewall too.

Oh and if you try to send them a report of your problem, their page will keep throwing you out. So no chance to get some support.

Good for a while, then problems galore
I have had experience with both the 2005 and 2006 edition. Detection wise I believe that Panda 2005/6 is a very good program; it has detected things that other programs have not in the past.

I agree with other reviewers that it slows your system down, including starting up and shutting down, and computer games. The main problems that I refer to in the review title include the program suddenly turning off your virus protection or firewall. The first thing you hear of it is when it informs you that your computer is not protected to an adequate level. When you attempt to turn on the virus/firewall protection it refuses to do so.

The problems usually occur when your program downloads a program update. Don't ever think that you will get any support from Panda either, I emailed them on several occasions for help and filled in an online form to tell them what I think of their program, and alas I don't think they cared enough to offer any advice or help. I would advise that you stay away from this program, but check out other reviews so you're able to make an informed decision.
