AVG can be upfated automatically as scheduled, or manually when required. Updating AVG is very simple and fast, AVG's small update files (typically ten's of kBs) are distributed via high-speed professional downloading services.

AVG scans all incoming and outgoing email attachments, and also supports scanning of attachments to instant messaging services such as MSN and ICQ. Outgoing emails can be certified as virus free.

Right price, right performance, right package!
I've used McAffee, Norton, and AVG Pro, only to find that the cheapest and simplest software was the best.
While McAffee had a great in-depth feel about the software, and felt secure, it accompanied Norton by slowing down your computer. And then Norton's problem? Just look at the amount of negative reviews...
I upgraded AVG Pro from 7.0 to 7.5 (I think the only update is the new clean modern look) and have had no problems. Its fast, simple, and straight to the point.
Ok, so it may not have a Firewall (which blocks un-wanted traffic), but if you have Windows XP, you have a built in one anyway. But the biggest bonus is the liscense - you have this for 2 years without needing to buy it again!
The reason the software consumes so little resources is because its no as embedded into your files in your hard drive like Norton/McAffee is. Those 2 don't feel like programs, whereas this does.
This is only an Anti Virus remember, and therfore most people I know accompany AVG with the likes of freeware programs such as 'Ad Aware' 'SpyBot Search and Destroy' etc - all free programs you can download and make up for what Norton has, yet takes up so much resources because its features work in "real time" (meaning its constantly scanning your computer) whereas all these freeware programs I've mention don't work in realtime unless you pay, but if you just scan your computer every now and again, your saving money, computer resources, and time!
I couldn't be happier - admittedly, I do sometimes feel whether or not I should go for the 'big names' seeming as they splash out on magazine adverts, and look better, but its how it performs that counts, and AVG is still the best software out their.

Best Antivirus EVER
I absolutely love this antivirus software!! Every time you start up your machine it will check the internet for any updates(usually at least 1 upadate per day) and it will scan your computer, without disturbing your work once a day., and it doesn't slow your computer down like norton does!!! I have this on all of my computers at home and trust it with my life :/ I've had it for about 1 year now and there has been absolutely NO problems whatsoever.

Brilliant, so far!
Having got fed up with Norton I checked the Microsoft recommendations for anti-virus software and found this. Then I checked the reviews on Amazon and found that people liked it. So I bought it. It loaded effortlessly, updated itself and scanned my PC, finding 14 Trojans in the process, (which Norton had not) and it fixed them. So, at the moment I think it is brilliant.
