Combining the original coded notebooks and modern computer imaging, over 30 of Leonardo da Vinci's inventions are pieced together in this work, in never-before-seen, mechanically accurate, computer generated artworks. Annotated diagrams show each working part of the contraptions, demonstrating in incredible detail how the machines would have operated. It also includes fascinating recreations of the finished inventions that show how they would have been used in contemporary life - from manned flying machines and mechanical bridges to musical instruments and devastating circular tanks. In-depth analysis of da Vinci's inventions reveal the stories that led to the finished designs.

A Classic for Engineers
I bought it for a friend's Xmas present. He is an engineer who is fascinated in all things mechanical, electric, electronic, natural. He thought it was a delightful book. Incredible structures and theories behind their build.
Da Vinci of course
I simply love the Genius that is Da Vinci, ahem, pardon my pretentious opening but in all honesty i do.
Looking at these works of his being dissected and pulled apart really give you a good insight to how this man was literally centuries ahead of his time, i love that it is slightly quirky in the sense it comes as an instruction manual but it's a great read with wonderful illustrations and diagrams of a master and his craft.
The only let down of this book is that awful type face on the front cover which gives it a look only a maths teacher could appreciate.
But pettiness aside a great book overall.
