Product Description

Digital Illustration: A Masterclass in Creative Image-Making instructs the reader, through detailed, step-by-step tutorials, in the skills and techniques used by the masters of digital image-making.

With the growth of computer arts, designers are now using Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash as much as QuarkXPress. These designers are combining handcrafting skills with modern techniques to produce a fresh creative aesthetic. Digital Illustration reveals the secrets of the industry’s most successful creatives who transfer traditional illustrative skills into digital dimensions, producing the highest quality, most commercially successful animation, three-dimensional and vector-based illustration.

This book offers a master class for students and professional designers and illustrators who want to take their work beyond the constraints of two-dimensions and to gain greater commercial success.

Customer Reviews

A good book but not a masterclass in DIGITAL image making.2
Its a good book if your studying graphic design and cross media but this is not a book for those purely interested in DIGITAL illustration. I bought the book and do like alot of the illustration but I'm involved in digital media and wanted a book based on this field of graphic Design i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator etc. I'm not very interested in getting out a can of spray paint and making some stencils. Again a good to book to have in your collection but not one that i will be referencing too often as I'm involved in DIGITAL media. Do not judge this book by its cover, and definately a misleading title.

Digital Illustration / Image Making5
I am a digital media student who wants to be creative and make images, but doesn't really consider myself "Good at drawing". If you think this sounds a bit like you, then get this book.
Lawrence Zeegan has found many really good examples and included texts on the working methods of the featured artists and some great tutorials. It helped me feel condfident to try things, and integrates technology into the mix, digital photography and re-creating methods to get screen-print like effects. I have bought loads of books during the last year to study, and this is probably the best one. The illustration bit in the titale could be a little misleading. I'd say it more "Mash-Up Media!"

Soooo Inspiring !5
This is such a terrific book, I want everyone to get a copy - you won't be disappointed. It's great to hold and flick through and contains some really wonderful examples of digital illustration from some truly great artists. If you're fed up with seeing the usual suspects in these type of books prepare to be blown away by the likes of Kam Tang, Spencer Wilson and Jasper Goodall. Lawrence Zeegen has done a brilliant job in curating this collection and I really like the deconstruction part of this book, I only wish this was available when I was studying design at college. Still - better late than never!
