The bit of this book that stuck with me, is this: if you've had a bad day and you phone up a friend to have a moan, what is more helpful, if she offers all sorts of advice or if she says "that's really crap". So, why don't you listen to your kids instead of try to "fix" all their problems?

Mumsnet Best Awards 2011 - Best parenting book
`An excellent book for reassessing the way you talk to your children and, as one said, "putting it into practice isn't as hard as I imagined and the children respond so, so well".' --Mumsnet, January 2011
