Customer Reviews
Art has never been so enjoyable...
A follow on from Great Artists One with Tim Marlow. This DVD contains episodes from the likes of, Constable, Holbein, Goya to a favourite of mine, Stubbs.
Almost 5 hours on the 12 most influential and memorable artists in history!
Marlow's infectious passion for art is undoubtedly clear throughout with something for everyone - unpretentious and enjoyable as he travels to ten different countries and visits over forty churches and galleries.
A must see for any art historian or new-comer to the world of art.
*****
A delightful series...
I remember when this series was broadcast on Five, I only ever managed to catch half a programme here and there. So what a delight it was to find the entire collection available on DVD.
Marlow is the most ideal presenter for a series on artists as you could hope to find - twelve artists in ten different countries, this series really does travel to the heart of some of the most renowned artists unveiling why they have become known as some of the greatest of all time.
Ripping yarns from art expert
This series has just the right proportion of presenter, places and, of course, the art. Tim Marlow is the expert in explaining what the artists are trying to tell us through the image. He tells a ripping yarn when it comes to Caravaggio, for example. I never knew what a wild life this artist had led - he was accused of murder; assaulted a policeman; was imprisoned and then escaped and went on the run... as well as created some of the most sensual and beautiful art the world has known - just one of the insights in this highly recommended series.
