About the Author
Mervyn Hancock was born in Bampton, Devon. He first joined the Western Daily Press in Bristol in 1968. He moved to the sister paper, the Western Gazette in Yeovil, where he became Chief Reporter, before rejoining the Western Daily Press as Chief Reporter in 1984. During the 1960's he was the music and theatre correspondent and met and interviewed most of the top groups and comedians. In 1966 he was in the audience at the Royal Oak at Nailsea when Adge Cutler and the Wurzels cut their first live album. He booked the group himself in 1967 for a concert at the Tiverton Motel. He has kept in touch with the lads ever since.
