Good, but needs revising
A useful compendium of basic information but unfortunately
the whole book is spoiled somewhat by poor editing and low
quality illustrations. Also some of the material is obviously
taken from earlier MOD publications but not updated, so there
are references to outmoded unit organizations and example
orders given which have no relevance to the equipment used
today (for example, a fire order begins "Sights down..." when
the British Army has not used a rifle with fold down emergency
battle-sights for at least 50 years!). Get this if you really
need a pocket-sized aide memoire but be prepared to add your
own notes and corrections in places.

Great book
As a TA soldier this is just the kinda book I was looking for. Since showing it to the lads down at the unit they've all gone out and bought it. It contains everything that is taught in basic training and I mean everything. A few minor mistakes in writing, but still the best book a soldier can buy.

Pocket Book
It has it's faults (the presentation is amateurish) but it gets the job done. Infantry will find this a very useful aide memoire and there aren't any major faults. Use it in conjuction with the 'serving soldier' bit of the army website. A very practical and good value little book.
