Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Asian Dub Foundation stood in stark contrast to the British zeitgeist in early 1998. While musos swooned everywhere to the melancholic self-pity of The Verve and Radiohead, Rafi's Revenge promised immediate correction. Preceded by the explosive "Naxalite"- -inspired by a call to arms chant that unified West Bengali peasants into overthrowing their landowners in the 1960s--Rafi's Revenge presented the real political deal. Fear not, though--Rafi's Revenge isn't a "specialist" dub album, or a manifestation of any other difficult niche genre. Rather, ADF are a unifying force, taking drum & bass, reggae and punk and forming them into a cohesive, adrenalised whole. Sometimes, ADF preach a message of togetherness, but it's always confronted with laudable militant verve: "A black man and a white woman living together / Face the facts you fascist perpetrators" spoke to more, and with greater eloquence, than Ashcroft or Yorke ever did. --Louis Pattison

CD Description
RAFI'S REVENGE is the kind of album that began to pop up with increasing frequency as the '90s wore on; influenced by awide variety of musical traditions, it transcends its pan-cultural roots to create a new paradigm, bowing to its roots but forging a new, postmodern identity. Throughout this arresting effort, Asian Dub Foundation incorporates breakbeats, funky guitar and keyboard riffs, Eastern melodic touches, drum-and-bass, and reggae. The staccato, dance hall-style vocals skip and stutter across the frenetic rhythms and complex musical textures. Though RAFI'S REVENGE is populated largelyby electronically generated sounds, there's enough of an organic sensibility (not to mention the various ethnic traditions evoked) to create a winning warmth and accessibility.

Charge!!!!! - Raj5
I got to this album 2 years ago, and I'm still listening to it. It has a raw urban vibe that keeps it real, and out of this planet. The first album Facts and Fiction was (in my opinion) far better, introducing classical indian sounds that many Asians can recognise, with fast paced drum n bass, the album touched upon an area that refreshed my love for music. This album has more of a solidarity in each individual track. Though Community, faild to imress me, bit of a dissapointment, but as a fan I can still listen to a few of the tracks with pure enjoyment. Any fan of music must but this album for their collection.

Reggae, Funk, and Drum beat5
This is the one for all you people who like alternative reggae music. I don't think this album is better than community music but it still rocks! For those of you who are thinking of buying this, consider a new version with an extra 4 live recordings. Still this gives a true account of ADF's style of music, more reggae like in this album. GET BOTH ALBUMS NOW! ^_^

Refreshes parts of the mind other bands cant!5
After the tired and unimaginative Britrock/pop music scene disolved, ADF rised from its ashes to deliver some of the most freshest confrontational music in a long time. Although ADF and this record were, and still are cult underdogs, this is by far one of the best records of the late 90's. Political rhymes, beats, hooks and aggression are all on this album, held together primarily by simple Asian melodies and coated with an icing of punk, hip-hop and dub. This album is pure class. You do not have the right to say a bad thing about this album, and you do not have the right to not buy this record.
