CD Description
British alternative electronica outfit Asian Dub Foundationemerged from London's South Asian community in the early 1990s. Coinciding with the rising tide of anti-immigrant sentiment in England, the group has continued its committed, vocal stance against racism and social injustice throughout their career. Fusing traditional South Asian music with the DIY ethic of punk and sound-system culture, the group has becomeone of the most outspoken, politically engaged bands of thelate 1990s/early 2000s.
TIME FREEZE is a two-disc collection spanning twelve years, five studio albums, and countless live appearances. Utilizing an arsenal of sampled and realpercussion, raging guitars, and incisive political raps, ADF pull no punches in their critique of the current state of capitalism, politics, and race relations. A previously unreleased track, "Target Practice", is a pan-cultural dub rocker, featuring tablas, distorted guitars, and Jamaican-style toasting. "Son of a Bush", a live cover of a Public Enemy track, even features a guest appearance from Chuck D himself--outlining ADF as heirs apparent to the agit-prop rap-rock throne.
Customer Reviews
ADF Time Freeze Rocks!
Disc 1 is just fantastic, disc 2 less so but still very good. A reminder of why ADF are one of the great underrated bands of the last 20 years. Free Satpal Ram and Naxalite are the stand outs among an excellent seletion, as is Warring Dhol. If you don't know ADF think ska/reggae/punk/rap metal in an Asian Dub style. Highly recommended.
