Extremely useful one-stop shop for all advocates
This book is actually an annual publication (current edition year 2000, states the law as at 1 October 1999).
I first bought the 1996 edition as a pupil barrister, and now, at 4 years call, I still buy it annually. It's under £30, it's succinct, clear and rarely inaccurate. Best of all, it is highly portable and a real "comfort blanket" when caught out on an abstruse point, such as mode of trial in relation to criminal damage charges (a needless minefield, but even those of 10 years call and above can still get it wrong!).
All in all, you can't go wrong. It comes out every January & updates to include the latest legislation & sentencing decisions. Its main utility is with the criminal practitioner, but it contains good sections on family & licensing matters. The bail section is worth the purchase price alone.
