Jacqui Jackson has seven children. Luke (author of "Freaks, Geeks and Asperger Syndrome") has Asperger syndrome, Joe has ADHD and Ben has autism. Life is anything but straightforward, but the chaos of the Jacksons' lives is threaded through with humour and common sense. Full of anecdotes, this title explains vividly what it is like to parent young people with such a range of conditions and provides helpful and creative advice for other parents and carers.

UNIMPRESSED!
I'm afraid I was unimpressed by this book. I purchased this book along with Freaks, Geeks and Aspergers Syndrome by Luke Jackson at a time when I was desperately seeking the benefit of someone else's experiences. I just didn't find this book at all helpful. I purchased this book because it's been written by the mother of a child with Aspergers. I hoped that the author would therefore have a wealth of experience covering and identifying everyday difficulties that she's faced and tackled. I found it to be all very general and felt that in one section the author was portraying herself as some kind of superhero (studying, etc). Parents in my situation, don't want to hear this - we want to benefit from other people's experiences!!!
SUPER DUPER
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish, i wasnt able to put it down! I especially like Jacqui's anecdotes about the 'girls' relationship with the 'boys' in their family, as the girls seem so charming and delightful, whereas the boys often sound like little terrors! Far from complaining about this however, jacqui takes real life situations which may sometimes be the absolute opposite of comical, and changes them into hysterical tales. an altogether fascinating book!
Extremely helpful
At last, a book on autism from someone who truly knows what it is like to live with day by day. I have found Jacqui's advice interesting and refreshing- I "only" have two children with autism but the tips and information in this book has helped me a lot and I can identify closely with Jacqui's situation- Well done.
