Essential Games For 2009
Assassin's Creed II (Xbox 360)Assassin's Creed II (Xbox 360)
Buy new: £35.99 / Used from: £33.45
Looking increasingly promising, this could be the game that Assassin's Creed should have been. Be sure to check out trailers and gameplay clips on youtube.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360)Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360)
Buy new: £37.99 / Used from: £35.99
The biggest FPS sequel since Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2 is likely to blow all competition out of the water this year. Infinity Ward have outdone themselves. Kudos.
Bioshock 2 (Xbox 360)Bioshock 2 (Xbox 360)
Buy new: £37.99
There isn't much to say on this one, short of bring it on. I only hope they can maintain the rich atmosphere of the first game and avoid a cheap franchise venture.
Alan Wake (Xbox 360)Alan Wake (Xbox 360)
Buy new: £39.99
Most of us had all but given up on this one as never coming, but E3 revitalised it hugely, and it looks to be a very original experience.
Batman: Arkham Asylum (Xbox 360)Batman: Arkham Asylum (Xbox 360)
Buy new: £24.99 / Used from: £18.00
It's too early to say how successful this will really be, but it's the first Batman game in a long time that has genuine potential.
Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360)Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360)
Buy new: £37.99
Highly anticipated epic sci-fi sequel. The first game cut its own figure as a unique shooter RPG. The middle chapter in a trilogy, Mass Effect 2 promises to be a darker entry than before.
Max Payne 3 (Xbox 360)Max Payne 3 (Xbox 360)
Buy new: £39.99
It's taken long enough, but another Max Payne is finally coming.
Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360)Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360)
Buy new: £39.99
If the marketting of this game is believed to be accurate, it's GTA meets the Wild West. Looks promising.
Final Fantasy XIII (Xbox 360)Final Fantasy XIII (Xbox 360)
Buy new: £39.99
This game certainly looks promising, however, the series hasn't been right for some time. Here's hoping we can return to the days of PSone glory with non-linear and free-form gameplay.
