Customer Reviews

Good starters scope, an overachiver for its price4
The first thing to note is that there is nothing really bad to write about my R90. The second thing - there is nothing particularly good, either.
It is a good package. You get a steady and reasonably smooth equatorial mount, 3 decent eyepieces, a 2x barlow for no good reason, a decent 6x30 finder. The user manual is nothing but excellent. It is well thought of, and contains priceless info for a beginner. The only bad thing is the moon map - it is printed at horrible low resolution and it is hard to decide weather it is less appealing or less useful.
The mount is well done for its price. The OTA is not. Though no real problems were found, the plastic 1.25" focuser is not likely to carry the load of a camera very well. With a heavy eyepiece I have to tight the screws well, and I suspect the threading may not hold much longer.
Optically the r90 is a nice achromat. The objective is not coated, but the views are crisp and very sharp up to x130.

All in all the r90 is a very good choice as a starter scope. An advanced observer will find it usable and even enjoyable, though somewhat lacking.
