Customer Reviews
Tradition comes to light.
As an essential part of any form of astrology, a clear grounding in the astrological houses should be one of the most fundamental goals of a good practitioner. However, throughout the many centuries of astrological practise, a distortion has arisen as to their precise meaning. Deborah Houlding, in her book `The Houses: Temples of the Sky', not only defines and explains the significance of the houses through a clear approach but also traces the history of the houses so that their functions have once again brought to life in the rich and vibrant way they had previously been used . The layout is excellent making it easy to follow and, even more importantly, to locate any reference. I find the index for the house rulerships particularly useful. Deborah's extensive research has at last clarified much of the confusion surrounding this important issue and brought to light lost techniques that have been buried under a mountain of misunderstanding.
I was lucky enough to get a copy of the first edition of this book a few years ago and found it to be truly groundbreaking work. With the revised and greatly expanded edition it is still the most comprehensive and accurate book available on the houses. As an astrologer I would not be without it and I recommend it to anyone who wants to know the truth about the houses.
Recommended
This book was recommended by our Astrology teacher but I had bought it already. The author takes a traditional view of the subject and has clearly researched the older works but presents the material clearly enabling the reader to make use the interpretations. It leans mainly to Horary but would make a useful textbook to those studying other disciplines.
